In 2011 I took a trip by helicopter along the coast to capture coastal life of Montenegro from the air. I was struck by the deep colour of the ocean contrasting with the graphic boats, swimmers and floats. The patterns of the boats from the air looked like constellations in the evening light.

These graphic images have an old fashioned connection to the ocean. All the boats were floating without anyone on board and a few people were swimming away reminding me of a Loony Tunes cartoon, and so Gone Fishin' was borne.

The coast of Montenegro have a particular tone and colour that are instantly recognisable. Sometimes completely abstract, sometimes with a sense of a human presence these images capture much of what I am often trying to achieve with my photography …a sense of wonder, a feeling of escape and a moment of meditation.
